Even if code was a solved problem, I feel like that’s kind of irrelevant because users don’t buy code, they buy a product, and the actual code is far from the hardest part of making a successful product.

You have to come in at least a few episodes/chapters after the protagonists adventure starts, though, otherwise you get reverse plot armor and are immediately murdered for character development.

I feel like the difference is that basically everyone who is non-techy wants a smart TV, but practically nobody wants a smart fridge or toaster.
