  • Yes, you’re right. Depending on the bubble, you’ll get a lot of push back, though.

There are multiple checkpoints that need to be cleared. First, gotta have the overwhelming blue tsunami. It won’t happen quite like some people suggest. There will be wins, maybe overwhelmingly so, but there will be losses. At the national level, it will take only a strategic win or two by Republicans to undermine almost any chance of progress. Not to mention the THOUSANDS of state and local level elections happening, and I can tell you that the Democrat party is way weaker at those levels, especially in rural areas and red states.

We’re literally in a situation where everything has to go according to an exact plan or there’s no real hope of success. It’s a tough position to be in.

All that aside, even if there’s a clear blue tsunami and literally every race goes to Democrat / progressive candidates, the American people are still going to have to hold those elected officials accountable and force them to actually fight back, make progress, and work for the people. Guarantee it. Money from corporations and the ultra wealthy in this country is far more powerful than our votes, our opinions, and our lives.

  • I dunno what to think. I assume Lemmy will either throw the worst at me or blindly give me praise.

I was talking with a guy today, told me my designs were “awful”. To be fair, at the time he didn’t know the designs he was critiquing were my handiwork and there were extenuating circumstances such that the designs were by committee so I did some things that no man should ever do or see or be told to do … it was only because I had to.

Long story short, he starts talking about his designs, seemed to be looking for praise. He pulled out his phone to show me and ya’ll … they were AI. I even asked, did you use AI for that, and he was like “Obviously”. Yes, of course, obviously. That’s why I asked.

  • Why’d he have a Super Nintendo mouse but not the system, no games, nor anything else related?

Nobody will actually ask that, though. Because nobody would assume it was anything other than an old-school computer mouse with an obsolete connector. And even if they did recognize what it was, nobody would think twice about how odd it is to have that, and only that. The only strange thing, maybe, is that it’s stored with my keepsakes and not the rest of my obsolete tech, various cords, & connectors.

But the answer is: When I went away to college, I didn’t take my video game stuff with me. My cousins asked to use my SNES and games, so I gave them permission while I was away. They grabbed everything except the mouse. At some point, they decided to sell my stuff to help purchase their Playstation, so I never got my SNES or games back. Then when my parents lost their house to foreclosure a few years later, they packed my things into a box, and gave it to me. I’ve held onto it for all these decades.

  • Really odd thing about that. Back in the COVID times when Biden was president, those “I did that” stickers were plastered all over the place. Not just in my town, but everywhere I traveled. They were on gas pumps, on grocery store price tags, on the back of signs, and even on completely random shit.

Now that it’s Trump literally causing the problem and making it worse … I’ve not seen a single sticker in person. Certainly not like it was several years ago where they were on at least one pump at practically every gas station. Odd indeed.

Suppose if they didn’t have double standards, they’d have no standards at all.

  • Allstate has, by far, the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced from a car insurance company. I personally will not willingly do business with them ever again.

    BEWARE

Every time I called, it felt like I was on trial. It was like they were interrogating me, picking into every little detail, looking for ways to prove I owe them more money. At one point, they threatened to increase my rates because I have a parent living with me at the same address. A parent who has no license and is not physically able to get to the car without my help. They forced me to submit documentation to prove all this under threat of having to pay more for my insurance.

When I was looking at renewal, they sent me a quote that was an order of magnitude larger than what any other insurer quoted me. I ended my policy on the spot, and then had to fight to get a prorated refund from them for the remainder of my policy term. They still tried to charge me for the new policy, despite having cancelled.

And that’s not all, that’s just some of the “highlights”.

Good luck to you OP! May the suffering you are about to endure cleanse the karmic debts of your past lives.
