I am not an advid reader so I don’t not want to mislead you with my answer, but I feel the main characters do build a depth of dimensionality as the series continues.
Not the one.

The humor lies in the messed up situations and characters. The narrator in the audiobooks brings so much depth to them. One of my favorite characters who is a good example of this isn’t introduced until book 4. Again, it’s definitely not for everyone, but there’s a growing cult fan base.

The situations and characters that are introduced through the books get more and more twisted and IMO funny, but I don’t like to spoil it for others. But if you finish book 1 and don’t care for it, then you probably won’t enjoy the following books.

The Dungeon Crawler Carl series. Fan-fucking-tastic, but dark humor is not everyone’s cup of tea.

Good questions. In my opinion, I think if it is fast food or delivery, do whatever you wish. Similarly, if it is a food you’ve had at a place before and remember it needed more of XYZ spice/sauce, it is fair to add it prior to eating.
For new experiences, especially with company, at a nice restaurant, or at someone’s home, definitely taste first.
But in the end, as a fellow poster stated, life is too short, enjoy whatever makes you happy.

Putting any seasoning on a meal you are served without tasting it first.
If it is not to your liking, then add the ketchup, steak sauce, salt, whatever, but at least try it first. 1) Out of respect for those who prepared it. 2) You might find that you enjoy it as it is.
Now if you prepared it, by all means, do whatever you want to it.
You had me 100% until the olives.
For this series, yes, but in general compared to my friends, familiy, and coworkers, I do not consider reading a hobby or do it very often. So my idea of what would be a well-developed character be limited/skewed in comparison to those who read regularly.
