I can go a long time not talking to another human but I talk to myself in the third (second?) person, probably more than a healthy person should.
“Laranis, look what you did now.”
“Alright, enough Lemmy, Laranis. Time to get on the chores.”
And then there are the dogs. They need engaging conversations to keep them emotionally engaged and happy.
So sounds? Always. Other people are optional.

No. A byproduct of self checkout has been the downward pressure on the quality and professionalism of cashiers to the point I’d rather do it myself than to subject myself to a level of incompetence that borders on feeble.
Cashier is not a career path many aspire to, but like any job there’s a floor. I’m willing to admit maybe it is my area or maybe only the places I frequently, or leaded gasoline poisoning my brain to the point of overblown irrational anger. BUT I long for a courteous, competent experience at any service establishment. I expect a 50/50 chance at a positive experience anywhere I go that interacts with the service sector. Maybe it has always been that way.
But, yeah. DIY as much as possible.
Not a fan of the continuous scroll article. It is putting more onus on me, making me responsible not just for reading words and examining images, but for triggering animations, setting the pacing, and un-distracting myself when I scroll back and forth to rewatch how the screen interprets various inputs because I can’t help myself.
Yes, you have to scroll anyway. But scrolling is more akin to turning a page than giving the “See 'n Say” another whirl. I agree with the authors sentiment but wrapping it in an overly complex delivery mechanism has just a hint of irony.
So we should be using passkeys to access our password managers that generate random passwords and remember them for us! Ultimate protection.
Would watch.
Now I’m hungry and desensitized.
They messed up. Banked on the “here, we’re like family”. Should have gone with the toxic but less unifying, “your coworkers are your competition and the reason we can’t pay you good wages.”
