For reference the $/sq-ft is actually pretty close to one of the most expensive neighborhoods in town (Alamo Heights), the difference is when you start looking at a 1,800sq-ft home it puts it at over $800K.
Before people start pulling out their pitchforks against all DCs, they need to realize that “normal” DCs aren’t inherently bad. Most likely this Lemmy instance is running out of a Datacenter. They let you take advantages of economies of scale with domain specific knowledge around power and cooling. You can buy cloud or colo your stuff there.
What is bad are the AI Datacenters, which are stupidly overkill on size, power and water usage. I’d love to see a site tracking those specifically.
Those look like the ones being built on the east side of San Antonio. For reference they’re about $150K, which people love but are only 350sq-ft. They have some that are 600 sq-ft that are closer to $170K. That’s still over $400-$460/sq-ft which is insane. The small one has a loft that you have to reach via a ladder (not even stairs) and is only about 10-12 feet wide.

Alternatively what cars wouldn’t freak out if you were to disable the cell module/antenna in it? It’s my understanding that most use it for the app on your phone and things like traffic but that it’s not required. I think some Teslas will freak out but most other brands just fall back to disabling those remote features.
It’s still possible they can record information internally, but there most likely is a storage limit, and without a means to connect, it won’t go anywhere.
