Technology layoffs at PeaceHealth will affect workers in Whatcom and Skagit counties.
PeaceHealth, a not-for-profit Catholic healthcare system operating in Alaska, Oregon, and Washington, told the state it’s cutting 150 jobs statewide, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing last week, most of them in Vancouver.
This is the company’s third round of layoffs in a year.

On one hand, this will backfire spectacularly as outsourcing IT nearly always does. On the other hand, it’s emblematic of the current state of rural healthcare in the US, which is collectively on the brink of collapse.
