This is my industry and the rampant racism is insane. Anytime there’s an accident or video shared of a trucker being dumb INSTANTLY you’ll see a flood of comments about “towelheads” and such. Or the video itself having Indian music overlaid. When you can’t even see the driver in the video. IRL people say shit like that like it’s nothing. I push back with “what do you mean” kind of questions and they get a bit uncomfortable and say “you know what I mean”
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but trucking in America is a commodity industry where a lot of the competition is just to reduce price.
Having more truckers around pushes costs down, so the casual racism is also kind of a wish to reduce the labor pool.
That’s why ALL truckers should be unionized in order to negotiate better pay for all of them.
Here in Australia, it seems to be the same issue
I actually know someone who was listening on a truckers frequency, and the truckie was saying to the next trucker to drive her off the road
All these assholes blame everything on “raj”. I have since made friends with 2 truckies though and realized the problem isn’t all of them at least
Capitalists deliberately pit one group against another while keeping their costs down to a bare minimum. I mean, what are the capitalist owners to do if they can’t make so much profit?
I’m sure all White truckers are perfectly safe on the road.
