From what I’ve found, yes, these larger group rides are held every weekend, in addition to much smaller ones practically every day
It is key to remember that if it was one person or a handful of people the cars would still be beeping as they passed, driving way too close, and endangering the cyclists. Safety in numbers is real and in this situation anyone sane stays behind the group of cyclists or finds another route. It really is an effective strategy.
Also, if each of those people was in a car it would be absolute gridlock. That car would not have been getting where they were going faster in that case.
Oh wow that would totally piss me off and I don’t even have a drivers license and bike everywhere, everyday.
