Seeing Xbox and Sony consistently failing miserably makes me wonder how does Nintendo get away with it. I mean, Valve behaves very nicely but Nintendo? How do they pull it off?
I think having consistent IPs since people’s childhood really helps keep their image afloat. Anyone who pays attention knows that they treat consumers like crap, but if you are very casual they seem to just put out good quality consistently, and because they are so tame overall, children of all ages are constantly starting out on Nintendo consoles.
Nintendo has a lot more pure Nintendo fans that don’t really care about games as a whole. There’s also a pretty good emulation scene for everything outside the current generation. Nintendo is also much smaller than Sony or Microsoft, they had the first implosion with the WiiU. They already with through a FAFO cycle and now Microsoft and Sony are learning that.
