Congress passed a symbolic resolution on Tuesday to condemn socialism — a move that saw eight Democrats cross the aisle to back the GOP on the measure.

The vote, which has no actual effect on public policy, was swiftly mocked by observers on social media.

“Voting to condemn an economic system that doesn’t exist in our country, to protect the one which we live under that exploits the working class to benefit the obscenely wealthy,” wrote Melanie D’Arrigo, executive director of Campaign for New York Health. “This was Congress’ priority as 60% of Americans struggle to afford food, housing and healthcare. Embarrassing.”

    I want all the “extreme stuff” though.

    So you want an authoritarian communist regime. That’s fine, but then don’t be surprised when people push back.

    Or maybe you didn’t actually mean all the “extreme stuff”. Just the “extreme stuff” like affordable healthcare and housing? Because, again, those are just bog-standard establishment Dem positions. No reason coalition-build with tankies to push for those.

    You what’s extreme? Valuing money and property over human life. Capitalism will always degenerate and lead to alienation and social degeneration of the working class in favor of the capitalist class. Money is the root of all evil.

    They are transparent about their beliefs. The working class absolutely needs to seize power and put the capitalist class under their thumb. Lest we become a fat, lazy nation dying from heat stroke in an Amazon warehouse while AI takes over most jobs. Don’t think for a second whether they care that you live or die. And they bought off the majority of our government.

    This surface-level Marxist critique is nice and all, but it’s really just moral grandstanding without any substance. It’s so intellectually lazy to hand-wave away the problems of the world as being the result of a spooky class of people and an evil economic system. Especially if you can’t explain how your magical, perfect system will be completely corruption-free.

    It’s very telling that you won’t engage with any specifics or examples. You’ve just completely dodged the vast majority of my response, including where I showed that you made up fake statistics.

    Pick a DSA-backed candidate. Give me the policy positions they campaigned on that you like. Tell me how they differ significantly from the candidate they won over.

    That would be a very simple start. If you can’t do that, you should really consider why you hold such strong opinions about this.

      Eh, I don’t want to. I could, but I don’t want to. I hate spending that much time shouting into an echo chamber to convince a random stranger, when I could be doing something more constructive.

        Of course, in reality, it’s that you simply formulated your opinions based on headlines and comments from your echo-chamber.

        Being informed is just too much work for you, and you’d prefer to just parrot intellectually lazy, slopulist talking points.

        Again, you could just not hold such strong opinions if you’re too lazy to inform yourself. But virtue-signaling to your in-group gets you that nice dopamine hit.

        Reminder that you still haven’t acknowledged that you fully made up data to support your argument. Kinda wild that you’re willing to just lie like that.
