You could get out and explore at any point with all the mechanics available to you. They even made it into a gigantic wave defense set piece for the final battle at the end of Episode 2.

You can thank half life 2s vehicle traversal levels for that.
HL2’s airboat and vehicle sections weren’t on-rails like this. You could get out and explore at any point with all the mechanics available to you. They even made it into a gigantic wave defense set piece for the final battle at the end of Episode 2.
