I think the reason Amodei and his gang are suddenly interested in an AI slowdown has nothing to do with preserving humanity and everything to do with providing an excuse for a bailout when the bubble pops.

those gpus and high bandwidth ram aren’t really useful to most people… like, you’d need a rack server because the gpus don’t have integral cooling, or even hdmi/dp out…

Bought a 20TB HDD about 6 months ago. I went to look into buying another last month, and it is now sold out, on indefinite back order, and costs over twice as much as I paid earlier this year.
They can keep their HBRAM and GPUs
