I used to be a cashier at a grocery store and one time a lady came through the line and went to pull her wallet out of her bra, couldn’t find it easily and started emptying her bra like a purse. Out come the keys, tissues, a GUN, then finally the wallet.

She had a gun. In her bra.

There’s actually a holster made to attach to your bra.

      It’s called the… Wait for it…

      Flashbang.

I wish I had thought of that.

In the holster? If it was out of the holster, that is brandishing, especially since it was at a register, and she should not be carrying. Even in a holster, that is so close to brandishing that it could easily get her a court case. Just touching it alone can be considered criminally menacing.

I live in a place that is very gun friendly and I have carried both openly and concealed, but every single person who carries a gun responsibly knows that the second most important rule is to keep your hands off it unless it’s go time.

Depending on the holster, carrying in her bra is potentially safe-ish, but her decision making in this instance makes me feel like she probably didn’t do much research.

For those out there considering carrying:

      1. Never point your gun at something you aren’t ready to destroy, and treat your gun as if it is loaded at all times.
      2. Keep your hands off your weapon when you don’t intend to use it.
      3. Always carry it in an appropriate holster (hard shell kydex for inside clothing) and leave it holstered as much as possible when not carrying because the holster is the primary safety mechanism.
      4. Have a clear understanding of your target, what is behind your target, and the penetration power of your ammunition as well as your effective aiming range.
      5. Consider every single alternative and probably choose that before presenting your firearm.
      6. Only if there is absolutely no alternative and a life is in mortal danger, present your firearm quickly, assume a firm and practiced grip, aim for center mass, and call out a warning such as “stop or I’ll shoot”. Only fire if that warning is ignored and you or a loved one remain in mortal danger despite the warning. It is only acceptable to not give a warning if the assailant is actively attempting to murder someone already.
      7. Once the target is no longer a threat, do not continue to fire and reholster your firearm immediately. Then, call the cops, call your lawyer, toss first aid to the assailant if you have it, and wait patiently to be arrested (because you will likely be starting a legal journey that will change your life).

If you have fantasies about wanting to use a gun in self defense, you probably shouldn’t carry one. Shooting anyone is a tragedy for all involved. You won’t be a hero, you will be a killer for the rest of your life. If you did that because you absolutely had to, then thoughts and prayers to you, but if you did it because you wanted to be a badass, you are no better than the criminal you were trying to stop.

The only appropriate attitude for a gun carrier is “I sincerely hope I never have to use this thing in self defense.”

“Hold this for a second while I dig around in my tits” is not the appropriate attitude.

I prefer to follow the Phil Spector gun rules. First, a gun is to man as a baton is to the conductor of an orchestra. By waving and pointing your gun, you can conduct and orchestrate the flow of any conversation.

Second, when I doubt, whip it out, if anything your gun can function as an icebreaker, a gun to the face, gets everyone on the same page.

And finally, shooting is fine, you won’t harm anyone unless you mean to. Bullets are so small, have you seen how big the average American is?

          😂

But for real though, that is some criminally awful advice. Don’t do those things, y’all. You will go to prison, and rightfully so.

He did get one thing right though: presenting a gun in any context definitely changes the vibe of a room. Not in a good way, mind you, but definitely changed.
