it was kinda cool around the same time OG WoW launched and up until late 2000s. After that it fell by a wayside because it was basically a bunch of chatrooms disguised as MMO. The only thing really worth checking out is the Chris Marker’s space - there’s a Youtube presentation about it
and every single time an idea that could’ve been genuinely worthwhile with enough time to gestate got rushed out and smothered by lame ass realization.

passable doesn’t mean it’s any better than a literal placeholder of something that should’ve been done. there is an entire field of computer music and specifically algorithmic music that makes AI music sound like it’s not worth the hassle. Iannis Xenakis can fuck you up for real!
