One of the most legitimate uses of the n-word in media is to make racist idiots look even worse. And the people of the land scene is pure gold.

Penciling that in for my calendar tonight. Hopefully they’re my wife’s because mine would make a poor consolation prize.

I’ve seen studies that indicate that Trump made more or less what he would have earned if he’d just invested his inheritance in an index fund, with some occasional deviations along the way. I wouldn’t call that successful. The two big differences between him and me is that I didn’t start out with a huge pile of cash and I can admit I don’t know enough to invest successfully and would just buy the index funds.

It isn’t a word, but “has the delusional belief” would be correct, in my opinion.

I love it when my brother, who as far as I know almost never watches sports, complains about a trans woman winning the prize a ‘real woman’ should have received, with the whole “It should be illegal” attitude. Dude, we don’t have a whole lot of laws concerning who can play sports in the first place, most of those are around discrimination, and you never would have watched that woman compete for the medal anyway! Why are you upset about this? 🙄

We could finally be united by a different understanding instead of being divided by a comman language.

I feel like it would be embarrassing to say stuff like there were pro games or men’s college games, which sounds incredibly sexist and dismissive (unlike my earlier comment, which is just dismissive of sports), but I suspect that will just earn him points with his base.

The more general statement is it’s harder to build something than it is to destroy it. There are limited paths that will reach a given goal, but nearly unlimited paths to undo that accomplishment.

Business, especially big business, hates the idea of adaptive strategy. There is no guarantee you will achieve the goal, and no clear cost to do so. Small businesses, or businesses willing to take risks, will factor that in and sometimes get ahead because of it.

I’m not sure if that’s a familiarity issue or an intuitiveness issue. I’d say I’m very good at math, but I’m also weakest at division mentally. I think part of it is we come across the other operations more frequently in life and our brains are more tuned for them, whether that be nature or nurture. I think the only way to change that is practice.

Division is taking a plane and breaking it into equal lines. I assume when you multiply you are already giving that plane bounds because anything else wouldn’t give you a result. It takes a few passes to go the other way, but your facility with powers of two can help you narrow it down quickly enough. You’re just trying to find out how long the box of a certain width has to be to fit a given number of blocks.

Maybe it helps, maybe it doesn’t. It’s surprising how many ways people have found to achieve the same goal.

Just to chime in, I’d say I have very high propioception, but I have a hard time getting my head out of the way of my body. So I will do weird things like drop a spatula but catch it before it falls a foot because I’m thinking through the process of holding the spatula, and fumble it, but when it falls I’m just thinking “catch the spatula” and do it spectacularly. So I was also a clumsy child, and have the scars to prove it, but mostly because I was thinking about everything I was doing.

If that healthcare tech can make my knees not hurt every day, they will have my undying loyalty, too.
