Yea there’s too many variations, but I don’t dislike the concept of different designs for different currents. Here in Denmark there is zero difference between a 10A, 13A or 16A 230V outlet, you’ll only know when the fuse blows. Though most outlets in the house is 13A. We also use the CEE standard, but that is mainly for industrial use and sucks to connect and disconnect.

NEMA is an American standard used in North America and parts of Asia. NEMA 10-30 specifically is a dual voltage socket that delivers 120V or 240V depending on whether you use L1/Neutral or L1/L2. It isn’t used anymore though as it isn’t grounded.
