The far left has a snowflake mentality, every individual person has to be special in some way. This causes a same general “side” but because of them all being “special” in some way, it’s limited.

The far right has the mentality of they’re all cheering for the exact same football team. They’re a mass of identical people at a football game all cheering together. It’s typically called a tribe mentality. Because of those they have a singular goal and not a “I’m special” mentality.

That’s why the ar right person asks you who you voted for and you say Kamala they have a temper tantrum. They are so into a person they’ve never met, never will meet or know nothing about them personally, but to them it’s like their team going to the super bowl intensity. So they assume you must have the exact same intensity for who you voted for. When in reality, I think Kamala was dog shit too, but I’m not voting Trump.

I find it a lot better then reddit, and exponentially better that Facebook or Twitter (refuse to call it stupid ass X).

I mean you still get a lot of the echo chamber opinions and such, but I think that’s more of a reflection of the current state of society and not Lemmy.

You can pay more to get better made things. Like most refrigerators are trash now, you can buy a commercial grade one and it will last like the one you had in the 70-80s but it costs $5,000+ easily and has nothing special about it.

Depends on the country. Eastern countries like China,Russia, and South East Asia, hell ya. They fake like you hit them, they’ll run into you parked and fall over, they’ll fall on corners and you help them up they’ll sue you for hurting them. There’s tons of videos on YouTube, and I lived in China for about 10 years. At first I was like WTF why won’t anyone help that old lady? My friend is like “bro, no” and explained it. Over 10 years I saw it like weekly.

West not as much. It does happen though. There are laws to protect the person helping as well. If it ever went to a trial it’s pretty obvious you pulled up to help and didn’t do anything crazy besides maybe a tourniquet, CPR, and or called 911.

My problem with eBay is the return policy (as a seller). Depending on what you’re trying to sell you can get seriously screwed. Sell a $1,000+ laptop you sold being 100% honest, they have it for 28 days and their kid dumps a glass of milk on the keyboard and now it’s returned as “not as described”. So you’re out $1,000 and a broken laptop and maybe a negative review for doing nothing.

They need to make the return window like 5 days or something. If you don’t know it is 'as described" 5 days after receiving it then it’s yours. I get maybe 14 days for collector items, to get them verified or something. But yeah, electronics and such, no way.

Debates don’t change anyone’s opinion, online or in person. At best you or the other person will go from one side to understanding the other side, but you still have the same opinion.

When I was 25 I was making a lot of money. So I bought my childhood dream car, you know the one you have on your wall with the chick in a bikini on the hood. So I bought a '98 Diablo VT with I believe around 3k miles (this was in 2001). It was the absolute piece of shit. Don’t get me wrong, it was gorgeous and sounded twice as sexy. But I shit you not, every other time it left the garage the most random shit would break, crap that shouldn’t break on a car with 3k miles and 3 years old. Spark plugs were fowled, radiator hose blew, wires would be frayed and cause electrical issues. It was like non-stop. I soldnit for a 20k loss.

Mind you I’m 43 now and own 9 cars, 4 motorcycles, and grew up building engines with my dad. So I have no issues working on cars or doing whatever. I can tell tell you outside of Jeep, that Lamborghini was the biggest piece of mentally handicapped engineered vehicle I’ve ever seen.
