I read it as if nobody asked them to thirst trap. We all know they do it for views, but it’s mildly confusing when you’re actually searching for arm workouts to be presented with an instructor who tries to show her butt every chance. It’s something they came up with unprompted.

It means that nobody asked for or requested it, but they still do or state something stupid. They just do “that”, even if they don’t have to.

I think it originates and makes the most sense in someone posting a wild defensive explanation for something that wasn’t attacked to begin with, only because they want to state their opinion on something that nobody gives a shit about.

If the thing is stupid enough to be funny on it’s own, then it can easily be omitted, but it has that extra layer of the poster basically asking “why’d they wanna do that”. This indicates that the poster themselves is two steps away from whatever foolish thing is going on and only observing them for amusement.

Fear is the fuel.

Scared people are selfish, and selfishness is the only common denominator in all right wing politics. They don’t have great visions of how to run a society. All they want is to stop someone else from having “their” piece of the imaginary pie.

It takes a lot more positive outlook to have the trust to build a society where people take care of someone they don’t know directly.

Using it for an URL to be able to store more data seems like a bad idea for other reasons. The oldest still active URL is 35 years. Who knows what happens once the owner dies or just decides to stop maintaining it.

It’s better when they write “salary according to union agreement”, but not much, because it means they’ll pay the absolute minimum of that agreement without room for negotiation.

I think it’s better to have a negotiation, but they could still advertise the span which they had planned on budgeting with. “expected salary between x and y depending on qualifications”

Unfortunately, when they do write an amount, it often attracts unqualified applicants who think they can fake it till they make it, which is a a waste of everyone’s time, especially if they do get the job.
