I think it’s misleading as stated. At a minimum “excess consumption of sugar can lead to diabetes” would be somewhat more reasonable.

In isolation it implies a more direct connection between the two when the reality is other factors are much higher indicators such as genetics, excess body weight, and physical inactivity.

So in a list of those factors it’s more reasonable than as a standalone statement, but then when excess consumption of anything, along with physical inactivity, is going to lead to excess body weight, it seems a little redundant.

Wait - what do we call them now? I thought the major categories were “upright” and “canister”.

A nor’easter is a specific weather pattern; it’s not just “weather that hits the north east”.

I assume there is not an equivalent weather pattern for the north west.

So if I’m understanding right, the networks rotate who gets the coverage; today is CNNs turn in the rotation and in solidarity none of the other networks will fill in.

What I’m still not clear on, after reading the article, is if the rotation will continue as normal and coverage will only be missed on days a “banned” network is up, or if the other networks are also skipping coverage when their turn in the rotation is up.

If you mean like when you’re creating a list of items that already contain commas, such as New York, NY; Boston, MA; and Sacramento, CA, then that is also a valid use of semicolons.

My error was writing my sentence with a valid semicolon, then editing the sentence structure without replacing the semicolon with a comma before posting.
