I will say there is often admin and planning and phone/computer based work in the trades as well, and a lot of disorganized and stressed out guys who diy all that on the fly that need help with it even if they don’t know it. Might be a niche.

Well it’s impossible to lie about something you don’t understand, that’s just called being wrong. And I may be. But I’d argue that while AI has solved notable math problems and created notable security patches and hacks it is not actually “better” than all humans at those things; and I’d be astounded if someone who had actual expertise, which your comment shows no proof of, agreed with you.

That is exactly the point. Most people would avoid it. Idk I think the poor and unemployed are exactly the people who would be most motivated to improve society. Those and people intrinsically motivated by the work. I want to actively discourage the people motivated by greed and power. Governance should be a service and a chore not a meal ticket. I’m sure there are other adjustments to the incentives/disincentives you’d have to implement to achieve that but I think my plan is a valid outline. Strong punishment for corruption would also work as an effective backstop, when paired with an independent and free press that is not fully captured by big business.

I mean let’s say we manage to develop advanced AI before we develop ships that can transport humans across the galaxy safely. If we send AI probes to a world like ours with a species like ours how different would their experience be than ours right now? Elite oligarchy enabled by slow drip of advanced tech to consolidate control and then give up agency to AI? Climate change, possibly terra forming against the interests of the target species? Weakened world government and international order to promote discord and violence? Seems a little like we’d follow the playbook the Americans did with their genocide of the natives, divide and conquer. Is there anything happening right now that wouldn’t fit that narrative if it was flipped around with us as the target species?

I’m absolutely convinced that the CIA, government, and private sector actors who were so successful in dismantling the USSR saw what it did for the oligarchy there and now are hell bent on replicating it. It’s a proven method. Ironically it’s wealth redistribution inverted from the socialist method and taken from the people to be given to the few oligarchs. I assume there will be backlash at some point because the USA isn’t like the USSR culturally or something but. Idk maybe not. Maybe it just works.

If I were an alien invader, with superior technology, and I was trying to exterminate an indigenous species without getting my hands dirty (or from far away), I might plant something similar to the current LLM/AI + military robots craze.

I’ve said this for years. Live in dorms. Cafeteria food. Minimum wage. All assets put into trust and in a vanilla total market fund for 5-10 years after service. It should be like jury duty. I’ve not met a single person who disagrees with this system.

Most people my age (40s) in the trades are looking fruitlessly for good helpers. Easy $30-40/hr after a couple years if you can read a measuring tape, show up sober & on time and stay off your phone.
