I used to follow hossenfelder’s channel on youtube after hearing her on an episode of the Mindscape podcast. It seemed like a good place to get a skeptical point of view on some issues. Over time it became apparent to me that it waa pretty much just skepticism for the sake of skepticism. I don’t know of any actual controversy she is involved in, though some of the other comments here seem to imply there is some, but I definitely didn’t get good vibes.
Asimov’s writing is nothing but him fleshing out exactly what he thinks through copious interpersonal dialogue lol that’s what I love about him but it also makes things a bit dry since it detracts from the awesome worldbuilding he does in the background.
My thoughts on it (speaking of the campaign specifically) were that it had good gameplay elements in a bad gameplay context. The open world design just muted the action and thinned out the goals to accomplish without adding anything of value other than traversal. The few times I played multiplayer it did seem pretty decent, but I just dont care about that anymore since I only ever enjoyed halo multiplayer on a small scale with friends in the same room.
The last halo game was reach. I dont acknowledge anything past that. I might play the later games, but they arent halo
Will I be able to make use of the interwebs to figure out installation on the tv fairly easily? I’m assuming it’s best to get it on a thumb drive off my pc?
Is that something available on whatever the android app store is? And is it just a yt front end that blocks stuff?

I had premium as part of a family plan with like 6-7 friends from 2017-2022 while I was basically ignorant of the enshitification, then when I got a secondhand pc I stopped paying since I had adblock. Had a few years of bliss and then the pc bricked up so I went back to premium for about six months and during that brief period it just got worse and worse so rapidly that I jumped ship. Very glad I did now. I pay for a nebula subscription which is nice to have for throwing up on the tv while I do stuff but it doesnt have a ton of content
I read the book and it was okay, not great but not bad. I feel like a show could be fun, is it any good?
Heinlein was suuuuper in favor of a colonial/martial culture. The whole reason he wrote Starship Troopers was because he was disappointed that the US suspended nuclear weapons testing which he saw as further evidence of the decline of martial culture. The book clearly advocates for the promotion of civic duty as a moral imperative as well as for things like corporal punishment. He WANTED the “toxic masculinity” culture, that was his own culture as he perceived it.
The movie is basically the complete opposite, satirically portraying colonial/martial values against the backdrop of an imperial state. It’s one of the biggest disparities in intent vs interpretation I have ever seen.
The movie rocks, by the way. Still watch it once a year
No but I have been the other party who was convinced. Not in a big philosophical way but convinced that I didnt know what the hell I was talking about and that I had drank the proverbial kool aid.
