Just replace the batteries in the ups. They are almost always standard lead acid batteries. Take a pic of the wiring, swap them out, and you’re good.

Literally opened this thread only to say this. Check engine light means the engine is doing something to increase emissions, up to and including misfires and such. Can be harmful but over a somewhat longer period of time than being out of oil.

The best picture I ever saw of ACL was the line to get in at one gate and a woman caught mid-hurl of her skinful of bottomless mimosas.
