Things CAN change. It’s not easy but possible, but they will definitely not change if we all have your attitude here.

Not all global manufacturers do that yet, and not for all models. It’s not a victory yet, we need to pressure them for it to mecome a norm and to be honored without playing any tricks on us.

Also, we were so conditioned for obsolescence, that the idea of a phone lasting more than 7 years looks like absurd for a lot of people, but in reality, it’s very plausible, just like a laptop can last like 15 years, or even more. We can do even better!

I remember when games would’t work with wine, complaining about some dll, I would get it from some random shady site and drop into the wine system dir. Some of the times, it worked, to even my own surprise

I don’t know if it’s some bias since I just read what it’s about, but that building looks shady as fuck. The kind of place I’d walk around and wonder if there’s some money laundering happening in there.

With tvs, The smart part has some use for most people. They want to connect to the internet and see their shows and movies. The data stealing, obsolescence, etc are things that most people fail to notice when buying, because they don’t have much knowledge on it. But smart fridges? They simply offer no benefit at all, and with a higher price. I find it very unlikely that they will become the norm on a global scale.

And don’t buy fridges and other appliances from big techs. Period. Get them from industries specialized on that, who have been manufacturing appliances for a long time, like people did all this time

And really, it’s better the creators don’t worry too much about continuity, why let continuity get in the way of a good story?

Exactly. Creators make stories, not brands. When something becomes a franchise, it’s no longer a story, but a brand that gets used and reused in different works. For some reason, very few people seem to understand this

The only leader I know that openly confronted consumerism and considered it a priority, as well as the concept of infinite economic growth. He even criticized latin american left parties for having turned poor people into consumers, and not into citizens (as in people with rights)
