I’d get told off for saying “homeless person” instead of “person experiencing homelessness” and just feel confused because I see both terms conveying the exact same thing, but the politically correct term just feeling clumsy.

Like, I have heard a lot of slurs for the homeless, and I don’t think “homeless person” wouldn’t even rank.

But I do like the idea of a “comfortable” space where neutral langauge is accepted. I hate euphemisms, and I’m irked by people who use them equally as much as people who overuse slurs. Both rub off as intolerance.

But in Guns Akimbo, it’s Harry Potter. It must suck when the role is bigger than your name.

Another fun bit of Trivia: When they were deciding on a name for Will Smith’s character in the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, they went with “Will Smith” for this exact reason. Alfonso Ribeiro to this day is called “Carlton” by everyone.

One cool thing that just went live in the last month or so is SMS Sender ID. You need to file a shitton of paperwork before being given the keys to send an SMS to an Australian with a name instead of a phone number.

I personally had to write the code to make this work for a rather large financial institution that uses AWS for bulk SMS. It was a lot of hoops to jump through. If you get one detail wrong, your SMS just has a phone number instead of a name.

At this point, it should be impossble to deceptively get “Fedex” into an SMS header.

I don’t think anyone is gonna solve that problem until it’s actually a problem.
