26·12 days agoI need to know how your brain works. Like what neural connections are firing that lead to commenting this? Do you think Trump will personally read this and be offended? Are you trying to spread anti-Trump propaganda to shift indifferent people away from their indifference? Do you just think it’s really funny to say that sentence? Do you not think about it at all and it’s as natural as blinking? I genuinely cannot wrap my head around what it’s like to be an “I would vote for Obama a third time if I could” liberal. Please this is a real question I need to know why people like you talk like this I’ve been fascinated for years and this type of comment behavior hasn’t faded away.

01·2 months agoIf you can put up with the (unending) bugs and performance issues, there really isn’t something that hits white like Star Citizen for me. A friend bought it for me but I would happily pay the minimum $45 when it finally releases in a stable and reliable playable state.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•SOLVED! How to deal with people who obtusely miss your point on Lemmy?
01·2 months agoBut my fear, acquired from Reddit, is that people are going to read this guy’s totally inaccurate presentation of my argument and then every comment in the rest of the discussion will proceed as if that’s what I said.
Difficult as it is, I have to remind myself that the people who do this are not my target audience. They are swayed by the wind like blades of grass. Even if I convince them, they will be unconvinced by next week. The people who my words can affect are the people who bother to read what was actually said.
If I feel the need to reply, a very simple “that’s not what I said but okay” and block them and move on. If they want to respond, anything they say will be longer than that sentence and the people who aren’t invested will gloss over it and move on. And the people who are invested will go back and reread what I originally said. Or at least that’s what I tell myself as I open up TikTok to look at videos of cats chattering and possums loudly cronching on grapes or whatever cute shit they’re up to.
