You’re both right, it’s not fringe. I don’t think it’s necessarily separated along money lines either.

I specifically pointed out I post mainstream stuff “I can live with” under my name. For you Palestine may be inside those lines, for me it would not.

This is because I personally would rather deal with an employer who is careful around the Israel/Palestine corner, but I would as an example absolutely not wish to work for someone who wants to take away queer people’s rights. I openly advocate for this stuff at work and I intend to keep doing that throughout my career.

I may just be too old or what, but here’s how I do things:

• Don’t post political opinion with my name on it, unless it’s really certifiably not fringe (pro mental health, climate change is real, supporting LGBT rights … is stuff I can live with).
• Separate mail with separate account and nicknames for different things.
• Apply for a job? Don’t do it from iloveunicorns@xyz cause then I can just search where someone used that nickname …
• If you’re using GitHub and you use an alt there, make sure that’s not using the same alt as your random rants on Reddit.

Basically separate business stuff from your fringe opinions.
