Ideally, install Steam with a native package, but if that doesn’t exist, the Flatpak is always fine. You can also use Lutris if you want an all-in-one launcher for Steam, GOG, standalone, itch.io, emulators, etc. (and I know Heroic is nice if you need Epic Games)

If you use a newer device, you might want a distro with a newer kernel, but even Debian will work okay for gaming nowadays.

For most games Proton will work OOTB, but you might want to check on forums and ProtonDB for any information regarding specific tweaks for certain games. The only ones that don’t work as of yet are because the companies don’t want it to work. (plenty anticheat games work on Linux, Big Tech simply decides to revoke that functionality because money talks)

Aside from Wireguard, you have Wireguard alternatives-but-not-really-since-they-are-based-on-Wireguard like Netbird and Tailscale. The latter is more well-known, but the main downside is that, to connect to the cloud servers, you need a Google, Microsoft, or Github account to login. It can be self-hosted with Headscale (community project) though (and you don’t need an account for that, since it’s your hardware)! Netbird is similar to Tailscale, but you can use normal email login to use their cloud servers, and they offer official self-hosting support.

One problem I found during initial install was that the scaling was not automatic, making the icons very small, so it could be an accessibility issue for those with higher res screens. I had to manually adjust HUD scaling to 2.0 to properly see the icons.

Yeah, I imagine that was because they started to grow an ecosystem of games that aren’t clones of Minecraft. It’s super fun!

I don’t think you can make double chests in Asuna, hence four single chests rather than two doubles.

I will still play Minecraft, as it runs natively on Linux (using Prism Launcher, which is awesome for managing instances, mods, and shaders!), but I will occasionally play some Luanti if I want to try something different.
