I think the bigger cruelty is that you aren’t going to get the across right away regardless without STAR filled in. But if you immediately get “It’s a trap!” then you are going to later get trolled with Star Trek being better.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are sex dolls in the toy story universe sentient?
11·8 days agoThen I guess CNC isn’t as controversial as people make it, which I think is fair. It shouldn’t be.
She should be worried about the creep watching and drawing her.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are sex dolls in the toy story universe sentient?
71·8 days agoIt is toy story cannon that the toys like being played with. It’s what they were made for. The same logic should work for other dolls.
The fact that Ms Peep has sexuality as a non-sex toy would suggest that the toys can be horny. So the sex dolls may not just be ok with it. They might be extremely into it.
Also, who uses a sex doll every day? I don’t use mine every day. You all have problems.
Me who started working on my own OS from scatch 2 months ago.
Now know more about what I don’t know. For sure I have no clue how Linux works.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Engineer says Claude Code has made his job "soul-sucking" as workers spend 12-hour days pressing enter
7·12 days agoThe productivity of AI is high. Depending on the task at hand, let’s say it’s UI, he’s not going to produce the volume AI will.
I’m not saying using AI is smart long term. It will brain rot you completely, and you will lose meaningful skills. But these companies don’t care about developers’ maintaining continued learning or even retained learning. They just want to extract volume. But once they spit you out you’ll have no independent skills. And saying you can prompt bots good at a job interview won’t be enough because everyone can do that. Using AI is a kind of mental hazard, and no one is getting hazard pay. Unless the job is paying enough to retire in 5 years it isn’t enough. Continued development is a critical part of having sufficient compensation. And these prompt jobs don’t offer that. So people should quit them.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Engineer says Claude Code has made his job "soul-sucking" as workers spend 12-hour days pressing enter
2·12 days agoBeing a prompter is the most replaceable job. If all of these jobs are going away, prompter is the most certain one.
We have bots that can mimic human text. You are feeding all the text from your job into an AI company. They have exclusive access to that prompt data. If there is any data they like training on more than free data, it’s exclusive data. They can use it to claim they have an edge over people who only have access to open data. That gets them investment. So they 100% will train on it even independent of how well it will improve the product, which it will do that too.
Prompt engineering will not be a job in two years. Will non-prompting jobs disappear? Sure. With 80% certainty. But the lost of prompting jobs is 100% certain.
Prompting is the future of work, for about one or two more years.
Docker took off because Ubuntu can’t run current software. Now you need multiple copies of an up to date Linux visualized just to keep it interacting with old software on a base system we insist we need.
If all your docker images prove that an up to date Linux can run, then why not just make the main system up to date and you won’t need docker as much.
Ubuntu problems. Just use Arch. Then all of your software is from the same era… aka current.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•God forbid carbrains actually plan around a *regularly scheduled* weekend eventEnglish
2511·14 days agoBS. I’m a cyclists and a driver. Cyclists 100% can be unpredictable, not follow rules, while demanding rule following from others. They are developing a bad reputation for a reason.
It’s not an absolute. But generally once someone starts dressing in lycra, they stop being a reasonable person. I will always cycle in street clothes. I don’t care how many miles I do. I will never become a MAMIL (middle aged male in lycra). Because I like cycling, but cycling culture is getting wack.
