Well, who’s reelecting him then, Canadians? Do Americans believe that incumbents have an advantage because voters are too stupid to choose? Maybe the problem here isn’t the voters but the systems that have been built by the political machine? Why is it popular for American voters to want to limit their own power?

For every complex problem there is a solution that’s simple, elegant, easy to understand and wrong. Age/ Term limits make perfect sense, unless you think about them.

My annoyance are people who become progressive but remain blissfully unaware of their internalized racism and misogyny.

That shit doesn’t just fall out of your head when you decide your an ally; you have to work on it.

Lots of cases, the throat is destroyed by a tumor, or the surgery to remove the tumor. These people may have to wear these for weeks for recovery or permanently. (permanent patients will likely have a similar port in their belly to pump Ensure into their stomach)

OK, this might be something that a fleet manager would care about, but the average driver wouldn’t consider in a hundred years. You don’t have to swipe your card and pay for depreciation every four days. Not to mention that depreciation has no bearing on vehicle type and little connection to physical reality at all.

And if anything, EVs maintenance is lower than expectations. There is no robust recycling of EV batteries for instance because it turns out that the batteries last reliably for 30 years and most of the ones produced are still in service. Also EVs are by nature simpler, with many components being solid state. ICE are rube goldberg masterpieces, the result of decades of continuous development.

One thing I really miss is the Used CD market. I know you can still get second hand CDs, but in the bad old days every music store would buy used CDs and sell them for like $7-$14 depending on how popular. In a mid-size town like mine, that’d be half a dozen stores.

I used to go to a music store every Sat and just flip through their used stuff. I’d pick up a CD or two every week and before you know it, I had a collection that’s robust enough that I’ve never created an account with a streaming music service.

Yea. Most cosmetic procedures would count. I don’t see how a woman getting breast implants is one iota different than a trans woman getting top surgery.

My Mom had a close call. She got an Email “thanking” her for her “purchase”. The amount was ~$500. The Email helpfully included a customer service line to get a refund. Once called, the “customer service” rep tried to get her to install remote-desktop software.

Of course there was no original $500 purchase. The whole point of the scam is to make the target upset that they’ve been charged and get so laser focused on the refund that they don’t question the process.

When I see a congressman from Alabama who’s this dumb, I suspect that representative democracy works.

Some people value liberty and freedom while supporting billionaires and corporations. Libertarians are way dumber than cartoon slugs.

Casinos have operated like this for years. People who loose lots of money get flown to VIP events with free hotel, meals, concerts, and even mix with movie stars. People are employed as concierge to these gamblers, so it’s not MGM calling and encouraging you to gamble, it’s Beth or Stephen.

First, there is a school of thought that says that the planet is ultimately doomed, and if we want to survive as a species, we need to get off of it.

I’ve just never understood this mentality. Terraforming Mars to escape climate change is as dumb as a bag of hammers. As far as cosmic catastrophes go, most of the stuff that’d kill Earth will get Mars and the Moon too.

And if you’ve got ambitions outside the Solar system, then planetary engineering becomes a trivial problem by comparison.

I think that “we’ve got to leave Earth or we’re going to die!” tacitly admits that there are few good reasons to do it.
