A federal judge has cast doubt on whether a restriction the Trump administration placed on federal grant funding for HIV care providers, blocking them from discussing gender identity openly, is legal.
During a hearing on Wednesday, U.S. District Judge William Young of Massachusetts appeared open to blocking the policy, which prevents providers that receive certain federal funds for HIV care from acknowledging transgenderidentities in their policies or providing patients with gender-affirming care, according to Reuters.

Edit: reading further, “cuts” are bullshit, it’s $46 million a year for about 96 community HIV organisations being redirected to state and local health departments who already run the HIV monitoring program and should therefore do treatment too
There’s no evidence for increased cases or any reduction in funding.
“Providers can’t acknowledge trans identities” is the plaintiffs reading of the rules. The government’s text is written as a funding redirection, not a speech ban. Courts will decide on if/how this affects speech
