I mentioned a meme I saw to a friend of mine and it turns out he doesn’t have social media at all. He just said “The mediocrity of it…” and we went back to talking about other stuff again.
He had a point.
Lemmy is the only social media I have, it’s a peaceful life.

YouTube is still amazing, you just have to ignore the algorithm, which is easy enough through subscriptions
I was trying to find background music the other day while I did chores. Unless you know a specifc channel, there’s a good chance your search takes you to Aimusic instead of music.

I turned YouTube history off and just watch videos through “my subscriptions”
For me it’s a game changer
I basically did the same thing but have a YouTube downloader that puts them on my Plex server. So I can watch a show then like a YouTube video and call it a night
I wanted to set that up to for a while. But I don’t have a home server, just a seedbox and it’s limited in what I can do. What software are you using?
I’m using pinchflat on it. The trickiest part was just the naming scheme in pinchflat for the videos and the library configuration on plex so it shows them correctly.
Also I got blocked by YouTube a few times because I would pause it for a while then start it up and it would download way too many so they would block me for like a month

That would be an amazing open source project. Nowadays, it probably wouldn’t even be that hard to make the entire thing.

I find it ironic and satisfying that the image link for your post is broken, and that’s how, like, 99% of the images actually work.
I’m in jerboa, and if I click on the link/broken image symbol the image loads. I haven’t checked web interface but I can later.
It’s a quirk of some sites. Or using mp4, idk.
