Be careful. Here in Brazil, most middle-class people in the past didn’t care about politics. When they started caring, we got a coup, bolsonaro, millions of deaths, dismantling of institutions and social programs, loss in sovereignty, cuts in financing to universities, support for a military regime and an attempted coup, and now in a couple weeks, the risk of bolsonaro jr becoming the president.
Now tankies would like to see the same happen in the USA… bc somehow in their fantasies the only other political system besides fascism is pure and perfect communism.
Edit: either that or else I should take them at their word that “death to the USA” is not merely symbolic but rather literal. I dunno, when someone tells you who they are, should you believe them the first time or not?

“The USA” isn’t a group, it’s an entity. “Americans” are the group.
But that’s beside the point, I was pointing at the classic practice of saying “those people believe <egregious strawman>, those fools!”
