    “This country is in a big divide right now,” Mr. Jedlinsky lamented. “It’s, ‘You’re either with us or against us.’ You’ve got a pick a side and hate the other side.”

    When one side’s baseline of reality is founded on it being acceptable to illegally overthrow foreign governments, lie about immigrants as an excuse to deport them, rewrite history through a Christian nationalist lens, take away life-preserving health care from the poor, destroy the planet through climate change, and lower taxes on billionaires, there is no room to compromise.

      No one is asking you to compromise with fascists. You should be able to compromise with other people on the left though which also few people are willing to do. Even on lemmy saying anything that’s not 100% in line with every far left idea out there or questioning grouphink in any way will get you downvoted and your comments removed. As I’m pretty sure will also happen to this comment… This also just makes polarization worse and halts progress.

        Thats what i never understand. Here on europe is also often the argument that we need to talk to fascists. So the divide will not get bigger.

      i mean one “side” is hate, it’s why they Vote Trump. This is not a both sides thing.
