When I join the lobby ahead of time, it leads to my name being first in the list, before the speaker themselves.
This seems misleading to other viewers.
Does not happen when I join the lobby later or at the scheduled time.
By lobby I mean “waiting screen” where you check sound and audio

Not sure about Teams, but for Zoom you’re only first locally. Everyone else sees themselves first in their local client. The ordering of participants in Zoom meetings is documented here. There’s a whole bunch of logic behind the scenes; muted vs. unmuted, whether the participant called in, etc.
With no research. I’ve been using teams at work for the last 5 years and this sounds similar to my experience. If you join late and dont talk, as long as there’s enough people you have a pretty high likelihood to not be on page 1
