Avoid glue traps. Snap traps are the best unless you have a huge infestation.

You are a monster, but only because you let your cat out.
Rabbits (and small prey animals in general) try to hide their injuries. Rabbits are basically as much lean muscle as nature can fit on the lightest and most delicate skeleton, they can snap their own spines from the momentum of their hind legs if they kick against the air hard enough. This animal probably had a debilitating injury, and you saved it from being another cat’s torture puppet for a few hours, or from dying of exposure over the next few days.
If you feel really bad about what happened, keep your car indoors. There are plenty of rabbits out in the wild, and you cat will get another one, and you’ll need to do this again and again.

12·4 days agoI’d like to see more “professionalism” required to obtain a driver’s license. At this point the barrier to entry to drive a 2 ton death machine is far too low. There is no reason why we should have people with multiple (or arguably any) DUIs operating a motor vehicle.

18·5 days agoI’d chime in and add that trump and co actively tried to profit off of the pandemic, by confiscating PPE from states and then selling it back to their hospitals at a markup. They also wanted to let covid run rampant because they believed it would affect higher density blue states worse than the lower density red states.
Biden wasn’t great, but it cannot be understated how fucking evil the trump administration was.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What’s the point of folding phones?English
1·6 days agoFolding phones work great for selfies, you can use the front screen to compose the shot and and the quality of your rear camera.
I’d say they are slightly better in terms of watching videos. It really depends on the shape of the phone. Most of the time, the full screen is only slightly larger for widescreen content, but the big benefit is that there is a lot of dead space where you can hold the phone, or see captions without obscuring the video.
Folding phones are surprisingly much better for web browsing and reading. Larger views for web pages navigate much more easily, and the double-wide screen gives a lot of eye relief when reading e-books, and you spend less time turning pages, which does add up.
If you use any kind of remote desktop application from your phone, having the wide screen of a folder is a godsend. I do a lot of remote desktop shit on-call, and most of the time I just carry my phone with me instead of a full laptop.
Source : I use a Pixel 9 fold as my daily driver.
I think what is worse is the word salad I’ve been trying to sort back into a coherent thought.

2·8 days agoIt helps if you can understand the difference between heat and temperature. Heat is the total thermal energy in a system, and temperature is the average thermal energy in a measured sample.
Example. If I have a known quantity of air, I can measure its temperature, and from that information I can determine how much heat is in that air. If I compress that air into half the space, the temperature will go up, but to total heat in the system will stay the same.
Heat flows from high temperature areas to lower temperature areas, and the greater the temperature difference is, the faster if flows. So if you take the air in our example, and put it in a refrigerator, it will eventually cool down to the same temperature as the refrigerator. If you then expand that air back to the original volume, you’ll see a drastic reduction in the temperature, but the overall heat won’t change.
So if you want to get heat from a colder source, all you need to do is compress that air first, which will raise the temp, move that higher temp air into your house, where it will warm up your house and cool off, then move it outside and let it expand again, where it will fall below the temp of the outside air, and it will warm up again, and you can repeat the cycle.

14·11 days agoI have a cursed mouse.
Not like a taxidermied mouse, but a cursed computer mouse.
It looks and functions like a normal wireless mouse… Until you get to a page where there is horizontal scrolling capability. Instantly, the mouse will scroll the page all the way to the right. This is especially fun in spreadsheets. The mouse will do this even if it is turned off. The problem is really the wireless reciver, not the actually mouse, but it is still a fun cursed object that I hope to someday unleash on some unsuspecting sibling.

9·12 days agoHoly shit! Do it.

Trump was the result of not choosing the lesser evil each time though. Literally directly elected because half the country is bigots, and the other half couldn’t get their shit together to vote against him.
Quite literally, he was when the lesser evil was not chosen. That is definitively how he was elected, by not choosing the least worse option out of the two. Every choice can be described as the “lesser of two evils” and while I can’t say that I agreed with Kamala’s or Hillary’s vision of the country 100%, I can confidently say that social norms, like not sending people to extra-national torture prisons, or the execution of Americans in the street by the new SS, sure as hell wouldn’t be happening.
Frankly, if you want to have better options in your pool of electable presidential candidates, there are a myriad of ways to get that, but standing around with your thumb up your ass listening to astro-turf purity tests and letting orange hitler get elected (TWICE) ain’t one of them.
It’s time to vote. We’ve got two choices on the ballot, and at this point your option is to uphold the rules of law and vote for the candidate that will hold trump accountable to the constitution and the laws of the US, or allow one of his rubber-stamping ass-kissing boot-licking sycophants to fill that seat.
If you’ve learned anything at all from 2024, I hope it is to at least vote for “the lesser evil” because your life, and the life of everyone you know fucking rides on that choice. You’ve got the education now, you can make an informed decision, but if you abstain this election cycle, know that you are really voting that you’re fine with either outcome.
