Ecologists have been telling people [from rich countries] to minimize beef consumption or drop it altogether for years, but not because of its price tag.
I’m not American, but I suspect my critical thinking and general knowledge would be severely hindered, too, if I had no access to education, healthcare, unbiased information, and no free time for myself.
It’s not the average Americans’ fault they were born and raised in a fascist empire that deliberately cripples their lives at all times.
It’s not just the US either. In virtually all so-called democracies anywhere between 50 and 95 percent of votes goes to politicians, who are suspected, known, confirmed, or even previously convicted criminals.
In my home country, on average about 60-70% of politicians’ statements are lies or manipulations, as analyzed by independent journalists. For the best ones it’s “only” around 20%. Much better than the rest, but they only get like 5% of votes anyway.
Because… it’s a disease that shortens people’s lifespans?
Aside from that, it’s also terrible for the environment.
2·2 days agoYes, the Comission is a problem, but sadly, it’s not the only problem.
The European Council is just as big of an issue. It’s mostly made up of member states’ heads of state/government, so technically it’s democratically elected, except the Comission’s president who also gets a seat there, for whatever reason.
However, members of the Council almost always push for their countries’ best interests, instead of the EU’s as a whole. And they’re an even bigger issue when they happen to be anti-EU, like about half of the current Council.
Which essentially means the only EU body that is fully democratically elected, and elected on an EU level is the Parliament. Which coincidentally has the least influence, and which isn’t free of its own issues either.
The Parliament’s current president - Roberta Metsola - appears to be friends with some American billionaires, and her husband is the head of an American lobby.
Does that sound like a conflict of interests? Well, that’s probably because it is. Usually, all MEPs are legally required to disclose such conflicts of interests, but for some reason she never had to.
In case you may be interested, she’s also anti-abortion, part of Malta’s nationalist party, and one of the main pushing forces behind Chat Control.

When a citizen’s initiative presents a serious issue, gets a record number of signatures, and provides some good, easy to implement solutions - the European Comission says it’ll do nothing, because it wants to focus on deregulation.
The same Comission is perfectly fine with implementing new, insanely vague and/or complicated laws that benefit literally nobody other than big tech companies, at the expense of everyone else.
And then the same Comission wonders why anti-EU sentiment is growing.
We’re slowly but steadily getting to a point where the EU has all the dystopian surveillance and control measures in place as China does, except without any of the benefits that come with them.
All Western car makers are already shitting themselves because of Chinese cars. Have been for at least a few years now.
Even Ford’s CEO openly said that Chinese EVs are better, more technologically advanced, and cheaper than Western cars. He also said that after driving a Xiaomi car for 6 months he doesn’t want to go back to Western cars.
Again, this is the CEO of Ford.

His Windows being unlicensed makes perfect sense. Why would he give money to Microsoft? In fact, why would you?
As for the PC - there are no Russian PCs, so he has to use something foreign. DELLs are very solid, and great for the price if you get them refurbished.
Not as solid as Lenovo, which also has considerably fewer American companies in its supply chain. But maybe they just got a good deal on a bunch of DELLs.
Linux doesn’t have to be private or secure. Just look at Ubuntu.

Why pay insane extortion fees for a deliberately worse experience? It’s like paying somebody to slap you in the face instead of enjoying a free, uninterrupted walk in the park.
As long as these satanic corporations continue to be focused on making their services as unusable and expensive as remotely possible - there’s literally no reason to pay for them, other than donating to a pedophile cult.
Of course, as usual, pro-AI people’s only argument is a hypothetical, what-if scenario.
If AI, specifically LLMs, are so great, how come it’s been 5 years and they haven’t meaningfully contributed to a cure for anything?
Fundamentally it’s the same bullshit capitalists have been repeating for the last 100 years. Capitalism is rapidly destroying the entire planet, and we’re on track to reach a mass extinction event before the end of the century, but their argument is usually among the lines of: “Well yes, but what if we innovate a groundbreaking technology that will save us all in a few years?”
It’s been 100 years and no such technology is even remotely close to being theoretically possible, just like LLMs aren’t anywhere close to being helpful in anything useful.
