As a man with very stereotypical tendencies, it’s absolutely a simple lack of better pictures. And it would never even had occurred to me to go take pictures in a park with a friend.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Me after realizing Crown is a Canadian product....
19·5 days agoYou know, I feel like I need to inform you: when we send Crown, we aren’t sending our best. If you can find the Northern Harvest version, that’s at least as good as Crown is going to get.

4·5 days agoNope. Missed the point completely. A little introspection will be required, but I’m not holding my breath.

Hold up, are people just out there not using Alpine for a container base image?

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•A community turned to a griftEnglish
146·12 days agoHonestly, SEO broke things first. The fact that the mountains of crap became impossible to sift through is what opened the door for LLMs to grab market share in the first place.
Really, as soon as Google became an ad company, the writing was on the wall.
True, though I would personally count that as a bad thing. Purity of language, to me is irrelevant. That opinion may be coloured by the fact that I’m a native English speaker, and there hasn’t been anything resembling purity in this language for thousands of years. To me, the point of language is open communication. Any impediment to that is a negative.
I think this is one of the reasons why English (or it’s descendants) will forever be the international language of trade. If it’s not your first language, it’s damn difficult to make yourself sound like a native speaker, but it’s damn easy to make yourself understood.
A million calculated how? I only ask because if it’s just raw net worth, a little old lady who has lived in her house in Toronto since the 70s, could easily be a “millionaire” despite having never had anything more than a modest income.
Personally, I’d put the limit somewhere around $3 - $5 million. There’s where you are really transitioning out from simply living a lifetime of middle class income and getting lucky with a couple investments.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•If I had a company and needed a specialized programmer to do machine learning stuff, I’d probably only trust someone who hates AI
1·26 days agoIf you want a machine learning model that actually works, you need to feed it good data. If you hire an AI slop enthusiast to feed the model mass junk data, you will have a bad time.
And when I say “actually works”, I mean works 100% of the time. If you are using the machine learning model for something like vision based part inspection/detection, a 99% success rate will be unacceptably low.

A) what does tax rates have to do with medically assisted dying?
B) if you spend 13 seconds
not lyinggoogling, you’d see that median tax rates in Canada are not even in the ballpark of 52%
