politics @lemmy.world•Dems with anti-trans views are on the ballot. What should pro-trans voters do with them?
2·4 days agoCredit where credit is due, I went through your moderation history and you are correct and I apologize. Furthermore I think a bunch of the other stuff that got deleted is actually pretty cool too. I really wish you would stop effectively suppressing trans and progressive votes. I know your heart is in the right place (and same for TRAHR, the OP) but at the end of the day when fascists disenfranchise trans people (gerrymandering, ID troubles, mail in suppression, etc.) and when you tell trans people not to vote the result is still the same: trans people have less of a voice and worse fascists getting more power with less pushback.

95·6 days agoI agree with you! To quote myself from another, now deleted thread:
You gotta get the pro-trans candidate in the primary. If you wait to look up if your candidates are anti-trans until right before the general then you waited too fucking long.
Waiting until after the primary to realize that both candidates are anti-trans is like waiting until your house is already on fire to consider if you should buy fire extinguishers. Voting for the shitty Democrat is painful but letting the even shittier Republican who also hates immigrants too win is like adding gas so that your neighbor’s house will burn too.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•The big critic I see from "we shouldn't vote" is that there will be opposition...
291·11 days agoLol this post really angered the dumbest idiots from .ml who think voting is useless and can’t be bothered to spend 5min twice a year to do it.
They don’t notice that blue states have longer lifespans and more protections for trans people. They don’t see that voting for more left leaning candidates has had real tangible benefits on thousands of lives and that getting candidates which are even further left would do even more good.
Instead they spend their time organizing for a revolution that isn’t coming like evangelicals preparing for the rapture, with no more ability to bring it about and with less public support.
Except they aren’t doing that instead of voting, they could take 5 min out of their day to go vote twice a year without getting in the way of their revolution at all. But they don’t even use the bare minimum of effort to do something that has been rigously studied to materially improve lives.
When Biden made sure trans people couldn’t be discriminated against legally with executive order 13988 they were organizing for the revolution. While Zhoran Mamdani is reducing the cost of housing and groceries they are organizing for the revolution. If the DSA gets enough people in power that funding to Israel cut off they will still be wasting their time organizing for a revolution that never comes. They will still be smugly useless.

Late Stage Capitalism@lemmy.world•The unity of the chicken and the roach happens in the belly of the chicken
1·2 months agoLovely! I would adore it if we could get ranked choice voting in. Unfortunately, right now we don’t have it. Getting it would require electoral power. Which brings us back to my first comment. It is an unfortunate situation

1·2 months agoAnd what is your solution for one bad party and one worse party in a first past the post system? Just leave the bad party as it is? A third party splitting the vote and handing a win to the worse party? Being smug and not doing anything? Being smug and saying “the revolution will fix everything” and also doing nothing? It seems like you are being smug and trying to convince other people to do nothing too.

I agree. The solution isn’t to wish that everyone would suddenly change their behavior out of nowhere, the only real hope we have is government regulations.
