Yeah strong black/white opinions on AI annoy the hell out of me. I find some AI tooling really helpful like fancy line completions and using conversationalLLMs as a last resort to solving problems, but I hate anything to do with agents or vibe coding in general if only just because I don’t want the field I enjoy so much being entirely replaced with being a project manager for a computer.

It makes me frustrated trying to talk about this stuff on Lemmy or other places though because it always ends up being two battling sides of “A SINGLE GENERATED CHARACTER MEANS THE ENTIRE PROJECT IS SLOP!!!” and “ANYONE WHO ISN’T VIBING OUT MILLIONS OF LOC WITH 100 DIFFERENT AGENTS GOING AT ONCE MAY AS WELL JUST KILL THEMSELVES!!!”

What if the next Prime Minister, said I want that 24 Sussex Drive house destroyed and Parliament put a new house on the plot, and I want to use all Union members? And done in Six months?

That’s relatable, I’m kind of the same way. I’m absolutely awful at remembering facial (or any) features and I sometimes wonder if it’s related to my aphantasia since I can’t really picture anything or anyone in my head

If the US is like Canada then its probably referring to the fire code that requires there be two stairwells for anything above a few floors tall. It’s an outdated code that is the reason three bedroom apartments are rare

Because I want us to build things like this again. I live in Canada and we don’t have even remotely as many old town areas that offer people-scale streets. I don’t know where you live but maybe you live in a much older city so scenes like this are commonplace but they’re non existent here outside of maybe Québec City.

Obviously this community is (with all due respect) an echo chamber so it’s preaching to the choir but I still think it’s important to be reminded of what we could have.
