As a non-American, I find it baffling and hilarious that many Americans are proud to work 80 hours a week. It’s not a flex. They’d regret having done so when they become too frail and forgetful at the old age. And all the money they saved and pension being collected will be spent on healthcare and medication instead.
They did not even live their life when they were young and they won’t even enjoy the remainder.
I don’t think those who “don’t do politics” are privileged. Many simply easily feel depressed hearing of bad news and literally tune out of the constant news cycle. But as others have pointed out, regardless of the reason for not doing politics, politics eventually do them. Plato once said that not being engaged in politics is letting inferiors rule over them. And oh boy, the world is experiencing first hand being ruled over by manbabies.

If it makes you feel better, in Sweden, the average age of students is 25. Why? A lot of them do what they want and figure things out first before deciding. A lot travel, work, or save money before going to college. It’s the norm for them.
Meanwhile for the rest of the world, we’re pressured to figure things out as soon as we leave high school. Looking back, it’s mainly because we are pressured by our parents to go to college. It became a status symbol and bragging rights for them if their kids went to college.

The former makes sense and non-negotiable. The latter is becoming obsolete overtime.

Well yeah, gambling is about odds and statistics. I remember doing statistics and probability in school and one of the questions is about calculating the odds on a bet. It was close to zero and I asked my teacher if that means the person actually lost the bet. She confirmed that that is the case and hence why we should be careful getting involved in gambling, especially those who end up resorting to loan sharks.
The lesson is basically telling us that you won’t ever win in gambling if you do the math. But at least the proceeds from lottery ticket sales actually go towards charities so it is less egregious than gambling in casinos or racing where the house always wins. However, in the case of the statistician in this post, she did the math and exploited whatever she knew to win the lottery, which most of us can’t do.
Scammers in general, not just hackers, get hired by the government for countermeasures. Jordan Belfort, the real guy whose life was depicted in The Wolf of Wall Street, was hired by the government to identify frauds.
