Hmm. I think you’re overstating things by saying “they actually did use AI”. Your article doesn’t even mention the computational development, and the wikipedia article doesn’t exactly read as though they used “AI” as it exists in common usage. Machine learning =/= claude, and if they even used machine learning, I can’t find an article on the process yet. Possibly because:

My family are all pretty used to my esoteric magpie habits, but if it was a rando person and assuming my friends came through on their promises about the box in my closet that needs to be burnt before anyone else sees it… there are a lot of options. It’s a six-way tie between the box of 2’ long molybdenum disilicide foundry heating elements, the remilled RPG-7 (anniversary gift), the 11 steamer trunks, the 16’ paper mache snake (I don’t actually know where that came from), the fusion reactor or the signed first edition of Uncle Fester’s “Silent Death”.

Basically, yep. This drone is designed primairly as a target drone; since one of the things the US most wants to be shooting down is Shaheds, the form and capabilites are very similar for training use. (It’s supposedly a more advanced version, anticipating developments that Iran et. al. will likely (or have already) rolled out. Who knows how true that is, though.)

AR glasses could be great - I’ve had a couple dev pairs and there’s real potential to the tech. But they all suffered from a total lack of developer support, which was a real problem given they were banking on outside devs to fill out their app stores. The snap glasses here seem like they’re going to have the same problems as the apple vision and microsoft’s hololens (which was SO GOOD why the FUCK did they never release it?? Fucking M$…): the initial userbase will be tiny due to the price, thus there’s going to be few hobby devs who can afford to buy in and there will be no incentive for the professional devs to invest in developing such a tiny potential market that relies entirely on a single proprietary piece of hardware.

What we need is for there to be enough standardization that we can port apps between hardware so all your time invested in development can’t be tossed into the bin of history at the whim of Snapchat & it’s shareholders.

Wouldn’t the answer be “for what?” I’ll help a friend out with medical payments or car stuff if they can’t commute no problem - if they’re asking me for cash for something dumb, I’m probably not friends with them in the first place.

Oh jeeze yeah, Brutal Kunnin’ was so much fun. I still have yet to pick up most of the other Ork ones, I remember Prophet of the WAAAAGH! being another one that’s just a genuinely good piece of sci-fi. Still have yet to read the Red Gobbo books, really need to get around to that one of these days. Savoring the good fiction, I suppose…

Flight of the Eisenstein is pretty good too. But… none of the HH books have ever really grabbed me. 40k has some truly good pieces of science fiction (The Infinite and The Divine (probably the best warhammer book, I don’t even think that’s a contentious claim), Ruin/Reign, Flesh & Steel, Assassinorum: Kingmaker), but I was always kinda underwhelmed by the 30k stuff… idk what it was. Maybe the inevitability of the setting?
