Thanks. The more I see, the more I realise I should just leave the AI stuff out. AI and gaming were outlier possibilities anyway, though I’m way more interested in gaming than AI. Right there with you on AI ethics. I don’t like seeing them steal art and rip off artists, but they can be good at tracking down solutions on various forums. At least, they do it faster. But it sounds like running one might be outside my budget, so I’m more interested in running services, and light/classic gaming, since I have an Xbox (Series X).

If I was looking for content for a blog or a video, would it be such a bad thing? Getting a lot of good information. Not sure what’s wrong with that.

Yeah, I wasn’t targeting Intel specifically, that’s just what most/all the refurbished SFF PCs I’ve looked at have been running, and I know Intel is good for HEVC transcoding.

I vaguely understand what docker is. I’ve tried to set it up on my Mac and had no luck getting it going. My understanding is that if you want to move your jellyfin install to another machine, it’s easy to just grab the whole container rather than hunting down jellyfin’s settings spread throughout the disk. I’ve moved a Plex installation and it’s not fun. It’s not hard but it’s not fun. So yes, it would be beneficial to be able to just move a container from machine to machine if need be.

I’m not new, but I shouldn’t consider myself any more advanced than a new/beginner level user. I remember liking Red Hat back when that was a home user distro. I didn’t much like Fedora. I have used Mint and I like it well enough. I also like Ubuntu. Heard good things about one called Cachy.

Text. A video link is fine, just sum it up. If I see someone post a video and nothing behind it, I assume they’re just looking to drive engagement to their channel and won’t engage here on Lemmy. I assume they want to engage on the platform they’re posting on.

Disclaimer of bias: I run a comm on Lemmy where I’ve posted over 100 video links with one or more (often a lot more) paragraphs of text behind them. It’s the music comm on the instance I reside on.

Does Ars Technica count? I’m not a member. It’s intimidating because the site caters to science nerds. I’m smart among my people, but I feel like (intelligence wise) I’m just a big fish in a small pond, and that forum is like the ocean — same reason I stay off of “Ask Science” type comms on Lemmy. Some of those places (thinking specifically of their counterparts on Reddit) are pretty brutal if you don’t have a Ph.D.

Anyway, I’d like to know. I kinda miss forums.

Articles and game titles both use title casing though, so it’s grammatically correct. They could have at least put the game title in quotes to make it clearer, though.

He can probably afford to do it, too. The thing is, he won’t. He’s promised Americans payouts before. There was one for the tariffs, I think around $2000. There was a $1776 promise for the 250th anniversary of the country’s founding. IIRC, there was a DOGE refund as well, but I don’t recall what he promised.

He already owes every American about $5,000, based on previous promises. Maybe if he makes good on those promises before the midterms, I’d say people would be justified in believing him about this promise, but if he wanted to, he would have.

He also promised a phone that was made in America. It’s made in China, and he’s nearly doubled the price. It’s still made in China. Also, the American flag on the back is missing two bars. So I guess in Trump’s America, there were only 11 colonies, rather than the 13 they teach in school. Has he ever said which two did not make the cut? I’m guessing liberal ones in the north. He’s not saying. Maybe he thinks you won’t notice. Maybe he didn’t notice. Wouldn’t that be wild? He thought it would be made in America, but it was made in China. What else does he think he knows that is dead wrong? Probably a lot of things. But if he doesn’t pay you the $5,000 after his party wins, he wasn’t wrong, he was right — he banked on people believing him. He banked on the people he and his donors have paid to come onto social media (including Lemmy!) and tell you that the other side is just as bad, so you should either vote for him, or just stay home. His party has had full control of all three branches of your government for the last two years, and now he’s terrified he’ll lose it. Why? What’s he planning that’s worse than what he’s done so far? Do you want to find out? Better yet, do you think the $5,000 will cover your losses if he does something really bad? Probably best not to find out.

My honest response to that is, I have a limited amount of social energy, and I will absolutely bend over backwards for someone who cares about me just a little. The company will post my job tomorrow if I keel over and die, so no, I don’t spare a thought for them. You get what you give. Next. Question.
