I get it. Philly is great! Pittsburgh is nice too, but it’s too landlocked for my taste.

I grew up across the river from Philadelphia and I loved it. I could take a train into the city to see concerts, get good food, or go sightseeing. Getting in by train and using the subway made things a lot easier, lots of folks do that for work and school. I just love Philly!

lol my friend basically did that to me when she saw me in shorts for the first time. I had been stuck inside for a few months recovering from injuries. She took me to a store and when I was standing in the sun, she looked at my legs and goes “omg Dkppunk! Your legs are so pale!” I laughed because she wasn’t trying to insult me, she had just never seen my legs before.

Thankfully, I’m a super pale person that my burn does tan, I just don’t go outside much so I stay pretty pale.

Oh that’s me in a crowd. I can’t hear well in a room full of people talking, so I taught myself to read lips 😬

I’m mostly happy, but I want to do a thing that’s going to take time and preparation. It’s not going to be fun to do this thing, but I really want to do it.

sigh I just have to be patient and prepare.

I don’t even care if we built high speed trains that go that fast in the US. I just wish our rail system was more extensive and prioritized passenger trains over freight trains, which they are required to by law but isn’t enforced.

A post came up about sexism and someone mentioned the wage gap. Men always go to the talking point of “well women don’t want the hard and dirty jobs, men do all that work”. So I mentioned my experience as a woman trying to become an electrician:

I overheard another electrician and the foreman talking about my body in a way that made me know I was unsafe around those men. Speaking about how I’m not “woman enough” because I have short hair or the things they would do to my body without my permission to make me a “real woman^tm”.

I received a direct message from someone saying that they reached out to women they knew in the trades who confirmed my experience was not unique. It was just not something they thought about and it’s not talked about enough or pushed back on when talking about the gender wage gap.

Women enjoy working in trades but we are sexually harassed and assaulted out of these spaces and it has nothing to do with “men do all the hard work”.

Any recommendations on what country to VPN through?
