I have to disagree. They are better hardware with way worse software support. Pi’s one big selling point is how out of the box friendly they are, meanwhile getting an orange pi flashed and booting Linux is an interesting experience using a Chinese flash writer with no English translation (back when I tried an orange pi 4).

Yes with the asterisk that a decent amount of the off-grid hardware hidden in trees around the country will probably never get a firmware update. So to the surprise of no-one, it can and does take and send photos of pedestrians and faces, just like Flock assured us it doesn’t. Sure the camera itself does not run facial recognition, but those images are still being sent back home which means they ARE processing them.
