I’ve seen some unattended stores in the US, kinda. There’s a person there, but they don’t ring people up full time. Usually they’re cleaning or stocking. There’s no honor system, a machine visually scans and weighs your items and rings you up that way. The person only gets involved if they need to check your ID for alcohol sales or if there’s an error with the machine.

Broadly, shooting is a lot of fun. Target shooting, competition shooting, trap and skeet, old west action shooting, it’s all a ton of fun when done safely and responsibly. It’s the same appeal as darts, horseshoes, cornhole, axe throwing, bowling, archery, any activity where the object is to accurately launch a projectile. It’s an ancient human pastime and a natural thing to like, shooting is just the modern version of it.
Hunting is also a lot of fun, but deserves to be addressed separately. For most hunters, it’s all about enjoying the outdoors with your friends. “Putting meat on the table” generally isn’t involved with it. Deer tags are given out on a lottery basis here, so it’s rare to even have the opportunity. If you do harvest one, unless you have a big freezer, you’ll probably end up giving most of it away before it spoils. Most other furbearers will be infected with some sort of disease, parasite, bot fly larvae, etc. so they generally aren’t eaten. But, that doesn’t mean there’s no value in the activity. One critical aspect of environmental conservation is controlling the population of invasive species, and hunters are an important part of that effort. More broadly, hunting and environmental conservation are closely tied to each other, both economically and in terms of desired outcomes. Here, rabbit season is an important part of protecting farmers’ crops, promoting ecological diversity, and preventing their predator populations from growing too large.
All of that to say, I like hunting because it’s fun to be outdoors with friends, but I also like it because it’s good for the environment and lets me feel like I’m contributing to something bigger than myself for others to enjoy.
I want to see a reduction in gun violence in the US, but I don’t believe gun bans lead to a reduction in gun violence. If access to guns were the only cause of gun violence, then we’d see a lot more gun violence in countries like Finland and Switzerland, where the rate of firearm ownership is higher than the US. In those countries, citizens don’t have double barrel shotguns and .22 rifles, they have military-grade hardware and they’re trained to use it. So it’s not access to deadly military-grade weapons that causes gun violence either.
The real causes of gun violence are poverty, unemployment, drug abuse, and mental health. If you fund programs that treat the underlying causes of gun violence, you’ll see a reduction in gun violence.
All any ban will do is make complying with the law more difficult for the responsible, law-abiding citizens who you shouldn’t really be worried about anyway.

Not quite the same thing. BIOS and UEFI both refer to the firmware interface. There can only be one, they’re mutually exclusive, and getting one instead of the other will rarely matter.
On the other hand, “clip” and “magazine” both refer to different things which have different purposes. Some firearms have clips and magazines. Sometimes the magazine is detachable, like on some SKSs, sometimes it isn’t, like on some Mausers. Sometimes a clip is required to load, like on an M1 Garand, sometimes it isn’t, like on a Mosin. If you ask for one when you mean the other, that will almost always matter because having the correct one is usually the difference between being able to reload and not.
I pronounce it the way I was taught when earning my A+ cert ten years ago, “you-fee”. This is how I’ve always heard it pronounced by other professionals. The only time I’ve heard it pronounced differently is by non-professionals.
That being said, I still use the term “BIOS” when referring to “the firmware interface” for the simple fact that if you call it a UEFI and it’s a BIOS, someone will smugly correct you. Other way around, nobody bats an eye.

It depends on your definition of “long term”. If we’re talking centuries, millenia, then wind and solar seems the clear winner with current and predicted available technology for the simple fact that they produce no waste.
Nuclear energy produces nuclear waste. Currently, our best/only plan to dispose of that waste is to bury it in a hole and hope nobody ever finds it or a natural disaster ever disturbs it.
Wind and solar… don’t. So, barring some unforeseen technological breakthrough that allows us to reuse or recycle nuclear waste, probably wind and solar.

While you’re at it, it would be really convenient if you could pull the whole drawer out and get access to the PC parts. Maybe wire in a harness so you can quickly dis/connect everything?
It depends. If i only have one or two things and there’s one open, I’ll use the self checkout so I can get out as fast as I can.
If I have a cart full of shit, multiple coupons, loyalty card, there’s no way I’m doing all that myself. At that point, I’m stuck for a while no matter what, so I’ll wait for someone else to do it; I’m not getting paid, they are.

If you’re using wifi built into the motherboard, your connection is going to suffer. Consider a hard line or external USB dongle.
It will be very difficult to make a “tasteful” number of holes that also give adequate cooling.
There are a few where I live. Those guys can throw up a barn or a fence and built patio furniture out of the scraps like nobody’s business. All the men wrestle on their lunch breaks and look like they’re carved out of wood. They sell good meat at the farmer’s market too. The few I’ve talked to seem nice. Sheltered, but nice.
