I agree w you that less cars frees more capital for other productive investments which could build a stronger economy.
I disagree on what critical means. If the cars and tech to mfg them disappeared tomorrow, the American economy would crumble. The dependence on them is what makes them critical, they’ve become like air. That’s not to say it has to be that way forever, but it is at the present moment.

Fuck cars! I’m with you homie.
With that said, ~80% of Americans drive to work… so saying that cars aren’t critical to the American economy disconnects from reality.
It’s because cars are very dangerous and critical to the American economy. By the seat/mile airplanes are much less dangerous, so we’re allowed to talk about it.

Like 10 years ago, I got started by doing this project:
In general, I’d recommend ANY BSD documentation or guides, they’re all written by knowledgeable ppl who are also likely educators in CS departments. Also, I’d recommend actually doing a project. Reading is useful and IMO the doing is much more effective.

2·4 days agoI’ve been playing DCSS for a few years and the furthest I’ve ever gone was collecting one rune (Snake Pits).
I like that it’s permadeath, the dungeons are procedurally generated, and that releases with new mechanics come out regularly so it doesn’t get stale. Over my short tenure, I’ve seen a few races, classes, equipment types, and mechanics (food was a mechanic awhile ago) come and go. With that said there are many backgrounds, classes, equipment, and dieties so actual play can have quite a lot of variability.
I usually play on crawl.dcss.io via ssh, you can find my player characters in the morgue by looking for player “kaleh”
Go get killed in D:3 by a pack of gnolls, I highly recommend :)
