It’s been reported that in the German elections, a far right party has made ‘significant gains’.

In the UK (at least before the scandals) Reform UK seems to have had a significant boost and has even surpassed the right-wing Conservative Party in some polls/predictions.

Even France, one or two years ago, was threatened with a far-right government due to the French far right party gaining a lot of support.

It feels like in the last few years, the far-right has exceeded itself and had a surge in popularity. Is this the case? And if so, wtf is fuelling it?

    The current system no longer works for an average citizen. Current and future generations can’t expect a higher standard of living than our parents had while the environment gets destroyed all around us. This disillusionment with current ruling class leads people to support anti-establishment candidates which tend to be far right populists. It’s still possible for socialists to provide a valid alternative but in many countries the left is too fragmented and/or too focused on the wrong issues.

        Maybe. More likely current system will not survive this and we will end up with some sort of neo-monarchies where powerful leaders control most of the countries (Putin, Xi, Trump… we’re already pretty close) working hand in hand with corporations and billionaires operating as independent states and people either working for them, starving or both.

                  I did Apple TV last winter and I gotta say, they might be the king of sci-fi shows. But i haven’t watched TV since there was snow on the ground. Pluribus, foundation, and The silo are the three I’m really excited to get a new season to watch. All the sci-fi shows i watched on there were genuinely enjoyable. I had no idea they were doing sci-fi so it felt like finding a treasure trove. Totally worth dropping the 1-2 months of subscription fees and binge watching.
