Agreed, but we almost had a Rings of Power/Wheel of Time type version. Fortunately Anne McCaffrey was still alive and in control and told the network fuck off and pulled the rights. I don’t recall which network, doesn’t matter much, they’re all the same. They wanted to turn it into a teen YA romance thingy (which some of them have that a bit, but it’s part of the whole thing). The good thing is the CGI then wouldn’t have been great, it would have been like the Dune TV series. But if they had mutilated the actual lore and story, that would have been terrible.
I’m a fan, but I don’t see how they could really make thread scary on screen. In the books it is portrayed as almost some kind of inate fear that can not be denied. But movies can’t really pull that off.
