    This is just grandfathered in. There are just as many shit regulations in europe if not more.

      There are many bad regulations in Europe too, but unlike in the US it is actually legal and possible in most places in Europe to build pedestrian friendly transit oriented neighbourhoods. In most places in the US it is not. The two are not the same.

        European here. A lot of places are being turned more pedestrian or pedestrian friendly.

        The boomers hate it. I love it.

        It’s not illegal to build pedestrian friendly places in the USA. Just because it’s rare doesn’t mean it’s illegal.

          In most places in the US it is indeed forbidden to build pedestrian friendly places. The reasons are multifold, zoning rules, local regulations, etc.
