Probably similar to how a lot of incels and manosphere duds get advice from other men instead of women. They’re in a little bubble. Maybe they don’t respect women’s opinions.

I don’t think there’s anything like that in it. A lot of men just don’t take a lot if any photos of themselves. Catching a good sized fish is one of the rare occasions and you are usually smiling and happy in that one.

That could be. I’m not sure how the “many women don’t like these pictures” fact didn’t override that, though.

When I was on the dating apps I got a friend to take some photos of me in the park

          a friend

Right. About that… I’m writing that in a jokey way but a lot of men don’t have that kind of friends or don’t feel comfortable asking to just take a picture for that specific reason or just for the sake of getting a pic.

It’s silly but it’s a legit hangup some have. So it’s again either a fish pic (“hey at least I’m smiling in that one and it’s not a super awkward selfie”). I get their reasoning

I believe you even though that’s kind of sad. I’m not sure which of “they thought this dead animal picture was good” or “they don’t have friends to take a better picture” or “it didn’t even occur to them to ask a friend to take a picture” are worse.

Out of those I don’t think the dead animal aspect of it really figures into it. If they like fishing (or hunting, same deal there), then they probably wouldn’t be compatible with someone who is upset by fishing or hunting pics for the dead animals

As a man with very stereotypical tendencies, it’s absolutely a simple lack of better pictures. And it would never even had occurred to me to go take pictures in a park with a friend.
